Entrepreneurship Ch. 5 Slide 1

Good morning students, We will begin Chapter 5 with a two-day, self-guided case study, with two working days to complete your two slides. Chapter 5 Ch. 5 is called, "Test: The importance of consumer research" and it is about finding out how well your product or business works. Case Study (Slides 1-2) Research the business plan for your favorite business.  Report back on the pros and cons, what do you like, what can they improve? (Hulu, Robinhood, AirPods, etc.)

Please write one paragraph (4-6 sentences) in the form of a letter that can be anonymously shared to future BUILD students answering the following question: What are two pieces of advice to students on how to use a growth mindset to get through the Idea Pitch and the prototyping phase of BUILD.

Did any part of the product or business confuse people or leave people with questions?   Did participants struggle to make the product work or understand how the business functions/runs?   Is there a concern the product will break or the business will not run smoothly? Identify two key ways you want to improve your prototype/design of your business. *Choose an appropriate picture or visual for testing or focus groups as part of your 4-4C Slide.

  Describe your prototype.  What does it look like? What supplies are you using to build it? Are you happy with your prototype?  Why or why not? If you could make one change, what would it be?

For the 4-4 Slide, please continue the prototyping process with some planning and design of your prototype: Describe your prototype.  What will it look like? What supplies do you need to build it? Where will you get these supplies? How much will the supplies cost? Are you happy with your prototype?  Why or why not If you could make one change, what would it be?

  Write a new product description based on your feedback and new ideas. Did you get any new ideas from the Gallery Walk?  If yes, what were they? Is it possible to prototype effectively without having a growth mindset?  Why or why not? Add an updated sketch or picture model of your product.

Directions: Use this time to sketch a FINAL draft of your product design, incorporating the feedback from your partner team.  Encourage teams to conduct additional research for materials that will make their product effective.  Groups should use the feedback to one last time answer the following: Draw or find a picture model of a product. Describe your product. What materials do you need? Focus question - what is one question you have about your design, and something you’d like feedback on?
